Perseid Meteor Shower
Over the next 5 nights, there is the opportunity to view the Perseid Meteor Shower. This is one of the best, and most easily seen, meteor showers to be witnessed in the astronomical calendar and you are virtually guaranteed a display of "shooting stars" or specks of dust entering the earth's atmosphere. Perseid will be at its best between 12-13 August.
It is best to use a reclining chair or risk a severe case of meteor-spotters neck-ache! Look towards the eastern sky and watch. The displays are always good to watch but sometimes you will be lucky enough to witness something really fantastic. We are lucky here in the Limousin, insofar as we have very little light pollution. As long as there are clear skies, it is an awe-inspiring sight.

Stargazing!
While you are looking heavenwards have a look out for the International Space Station - it passes almost overhead the Limousin tonight at 21.36. See http://iss.astroviewer.net/observation.php

Let's hope the sky is clear then. Really would like to see both.

Hi Spitfire. Ideal conditions last night - clear sky and loads of "shooting stars". You should be OK tonight as well but it starts to wane after tonight. There looks to be some wispy cloud about but I think it should still be fine. If you look towards the eastern sky, you should definitely see some. Good luck.Spitfire48 wrote:Has anyone seen it ??
