Hi Le -Dolly
It's Simmo calling. Yep I keep a very low profile with our Madame Marie ever since the knock at the door came one day. It was my wife Sue's Dog (well that's what i said ) when madame marie said your dog has just killed my chickens.Madame marie's husband the local garage owner and a good mate of mine was stood behind her waggling his arms up and down saying Chicken tonight! chicken tonight! and laughing. At this point she turn and gave him a right dressing down in fact i thought she was going to kill him.
Then at this point one of the two Gendarmes Stood behind her chipped in saying This is a very grave matter i will have to report it to your marie (and wish he had not), as Madam marie took off and turned on him with a look that could kill and said words to the effect I am the B----y maire. Any way to cut along story short, it cost me a large tin of Quality Street and after the dust settled i got a right royal rocket off the wife for dropping her in the Merd.
In fact to this day if i drive passed Madame maries house and Lucas our Pyrenean sheep dog is sat in the from seat of the landrover with me i push his head down just to keep him out of sight.Well you never know, they all have guns in the Correze and know how to use them.
Simmo in the Correze ( I did my suvival training in the Army!.)

Hi Simmo... nice story.Very Happy .. had me smiling.

I don't know whether you are just making a point with repeating the spelling but in case you didn't know.. It's Monsieur/Madame le Maire... not Marie, and pronounced much the same as in English. For some reason that is beyond my French knowledge the 'le' doesn't become 'la' even if the maire is female.

Not being pendantic  .. just in case you didn't know.

Hi Folks
My French is to say the Least awful but i manage to bumble by although when i try my french out on the locals my better half walks away for some reason. Still thanks for the correction Tony H although i have a problem with remembering things these days. So will have forgotten it by morning.
