Tyre Disposal
We have been having a good clear-out of the cellars, but the municipal site would not take tyres, we have three old tyres, it would not be a crisis if they stayed but having done a quick search I can find lots of info. confirming the recycling sites no longer take them but no alternative disposal options...any ideas?

Re: Tyre Disposal
Wonder why things get dumped down dark lanes at night??!!
Bury them? If you can find someone filling in a big hole somewhere, or one of those mounds covered in plastic and car tyres you see on farms, ask there. Other than that, Im stumped.
Ill be interested to hear your solution.

Re: Tyre Disposal
your local farmer may take them to cover his winter feed or paint them white and plant flowers in them

Re: Tyre Disposal
Thanks for all the ideas everyone. I already have a couple, being used for a variety of purposes, these came out of the goat pen and used to have the buckets in them stop them falling. As I already have a few, I thought they could go with the rest of the junk, but it seems they are destined to stay with me forever .
I am still curious to know what the "officially approved" method of disposal is

Re: Tyre Disposal
I know my dechetterie doesn't take then and they also have no idea what I should do with them. I think the state has made a presumption that private individuals don't have tyres to dispose of, so I do not believe there is an actual official way. When chatting at my local garage he said that he has to pay to have them collected. I presume they are turned back into rubber on an industrial scale.
Perhaps as suggested you could just sneak them onto a farmers pile
