Green Plasterboard

Post by STINKY1207 on Sun Aug 25, 2013 8:13 pm

Evening all. We have built the stud wall framework for two bathrooms, (lots of whistling needed whilst in use as they are quite seethrough), and so plasterboarding is the next step. In someways a pity, as when family and friends say...we will see you soon, we have been able to say yes, but we will be able to see you also, all of the time, it has dissuaded them:lol:  Some advice given is to use the green plasterboard because of the obvious water vapour in a bathroom, but some is that if painted/plastered it does not matter. Both will have an extractor fan system that is humidity controlled, (or in my speak, automatic). Any thoughts please. Thanks.

Whatever anybody says about the ability of standard p/board that is painted or plastered to fair as well as green p/b is, in my opinion, talking from where the 'sun don't shine'. If it was that good then there would be no need for the green stuff. Whilst it is dearer (and heavier) I will always fit the green board in humid conditions without exception. I must say that I do not follow the British tradition of plastering over p/b, I merely paint or tile directly on to it and after completing nine SdB & SdD's over the past eight years, we have had no reason to make any repairs other than freshening the paintwork. Go with the green, it's what it's there for.

Thanks Le-Dolly. Twas what I thought, but as all this building work is totally new to us (roughly translated as I have not a clue what I'm doing) I thought I would ask of those who do. Green it is. Stinky.

Salle de Bain --- Bathroom

Salle de Douche----- Shower room

I also concur with Le Dolly... I have always used Green placo in potential wet/damp areas and have never had any problem.

Twigged the abbreviations just after I'd posted. Do hate those senior moments. Thanks for the advice. Stinky.
