Do you know that you can access your account on the internet? Look on the back of the demand. We are attempting to change our bank account (and that's another, long, story!!), but despite letters in September the demands still appeared to say that they were debiting it from the old account. Looking on our account on the 'net however showed that they are taking from the new account! It's due on 27th December, so we wait and see.
Out taxe habitation is 400euros, which reflects the modest dwelling and rurality of the location we suppose.

Re: Taxe Fonciere
Someone, somewhere, has posted that TdF & TdH are similar prices, this is rarely so. Our Fonciere this year is over 4700€, the Habitation inc the TV is between 300 & 400€ (can't remember precisely), so no correlation with the TdF.
Re: Taxe Fonciere
Our Fonciere was 978 euros and the Habitation is 580 euros. It's always been about the same diffference.

Re: Taxe Fonciere
Our TdF was EUR 118 and TdH (incl TV licence) was EUR 307. Admittedly we live in the worlds tinest cottage in a rural-ish location, with a 1000 sqm plot, but in Scotland we were paying GBP 200 per MONTH for only a slightly bigger property. And to be honest, the services we receive here as as good, if not better, than in the UK. So we're well happy
Re: Taxe Fonciere
Can you appeal, both my taxes have gone up 130% each , im really fed up as there is nomway you could rent out our freezing cold damp hovel, so where they get rentable value from is beyond me.

Our taxe d'habitation bill arrives usually one of two months after that for the taxe foncière and is about 2/3 of the value of the taxe foncière.
You can request monthly payments at your sub-Préfecture where you usually pay your bills and maybe you can do it online. Maybe someone else on the forum has details about that. Spread payments take some of the stress away, I find.
Well, our bill finally arrived today, due 17th Feb, and was exactly the same as the tax fonciere, both 2200. Fonciere arrived in September, so guess there is no pattern to when you get which one.
