Have to say while in England ,i bought my sausages from my Q butcher ,but since liveing in france ,and haveing tried every french sausage going [and i mean EVERY SAUSAGE]i now bow down to an original walls pork sausage ,which a very kind friend orders for me on her english shopping line i now make great sausage rolls again ,i make my own shortcrust pastry ,but as puff pastry is a pain to make [used to but not now ]try the le clerc puff for sale in thier bakery/cake section its great much better than the ordinary chilled supermarket stuff

I agree Red, French sausages are not as good as the British Banger; I don't think they contain any cereal which does make a difference and whilst I love garlic I don't particularly want my ordinary sausages smelling of it. We used to buy our sausages from our local butcher in the U.K. but now I'm just grateful for the ones a friend brings over from Sainsbugs when they visit their place each school holiday.

We tried several lots of sausage meat ...but not a brilliant sustitute as far as we were concerned. There were some great sausages in La Sout Leclerc last year (prepacked Don someone's make ) There were several varieties but OH pronounced the thyme/herb variety almost as good as the lincoln sausages he was brought up with ! Unfortunately Leclerc dont know if they'll be getting any more in :-(
