Is The Forum On It's Knees ?
Every day I come on for a browse, but it seems as time goes on the Forum gets less and
less new content.
Certain parts of the Forum have really old posts and it does not seem to be alive and kicking.
Is it just me ? Or have the members from the old Forum we used to visit gone elsewhere.
Shame as we will be in the Correze for the next 6 months.

Re: Is The Forum On It's Knees ?
I don't know whether it's on its knees yet but it's certainly a little sickly.
I get the feeling that no-one ever wants to post anything which might be construed as even mildly contentious. And yet contentious posts are what keep many forums alive. Sure it leads to occasional spats and a bit of dummy throwing but so what? It says something abut this forum when the topic "What's for dinner tonight" has attracted more posts and views than any other topic - and by an absolutely huge margin!
Personally I'd like to see more discussions about French politics and how it applies to the Limousin. I'd like to see more "hard" information about life in the Limousin (and less about Lidl's in Ambazac ) I'd like to see more discussions about the merits or otherwise of local businesses, restaurants etc without the silly rules about not promoting businesses which seem to have been unnecessarily imported from the previous forum.
There's been nearly thirty visits by members to the forum today. That's not a huge number but I would have thought it's enough to make it viable. If only more of them would post.

Re: Is The Forum On It's Knees ?
I agree.. it has been very quiet on here... quite a few members sign in every day bit almost no posts. Having said that several other forums I visit are also quiet considering that many have ten times the number of members. I think everyone is still in hibernation mode, waiting for spring
I have no problems with contentious posts to provoke discussion but it needs someone to start them. I pop in frequently but am busy with fitting a new bathroom at the mo so have not hardly been posting.
As regards restaurant/business reviews... I am not against this provided we are careful in not running down a particular business as the forum could end up liable. Good reviews should be no problem provided your are not using them simply to promote your or a friends business. I have PM'd Irena in the past to try and get clarification, but will chase her again. She is a bit busy at the mo organising a double move to France.
So, come on.. is there something that irks you, want to get something off your chest, or post a pleasant experience. We need posts otherwise the forum will slowly fade away.
Would go on a bit more but my cat is trying to help me type. I have put him on the floor three times now but he just keeps coming back.

Re: Is The Forum On It's Knees ?
Any forum lives or dies by the members and the vast majority of the members of this forum are silent. I agree with Richard - a good old contentious argument is a great way to stimulate people into a response. It can, however, have the opposite effect; I have been taken to task on more than one occasion for being negative, aggressive or fractious and these responses have ranged from a right old verbal ding-dong (and why not?) to a rather petulant "I'm taking my ball away". I hope that the Forum does continue but there are a lot of them about and even those that cover the whole of France don't attract a huge following, so a Forum which is aimed at such a small area, is always going to face a battle to survive.

Are you after just a five minute argument, or perhaps the course of ten.

@ Higgy, you say that you come on here to browse every day, well if you want the forum to survive you must post too. In the seven or eight months the forum has been running you have only posted 13 times, and one of those was to complain that no one was posting, come on, get with it.

Re: Is The Forum On It's Knees ?
Thought the forum was getting boring, so did not browse it for a while, but yes, it's up to all of us to keep it alive and kicking, with arguments, humour, tips, questions, local events, whatever. It must be all this rain that gets people down, but Le-Dolly's brought back a smile on my face, great aren't they, John Cleese and co., hadn't seen this one
Re: Is The Forum On It's Knees ?
See, start a post and get criticised. As I am presently in the UK
I do not have anything relevant to say about the Limousin.
Next week once in France I might have, but I will have to visit
a WiFi Bar, such a shame.
Just thought I would rattle a few cages then Le Dolley popped out. pmsl

Good journey and welcome back in the wet Corrèze.
As an exception, the sun will shine on Sunday and it will remain dry all day, would you believe it ?!

Re: Is The Forum On It's Knees ?
Well, the Daily Telegraph had an article today about the dire economic situation in France. Is that of interest for discussion?

This topic is entitled "Is The Forum On Its Knees?". Your suggestion would be better placed in a new topic called "Is France On Its Knees?"

Haha, don't rub it in, SF48, it's been one long shower here for a month or so. Still, it hasn't been snowing yet .
Re: Is The Forum On It's Knees ?
Sorry I won't but has been wet and colder than usual here until the last week or so .
I love anywhere with frost and snow and sun . But I do hate constant rain. 12 years in Cornish grey winters was depressing so hope Correze does not go the same way.

Hi folks
It's not the amount of posts, but the quality of the posts, that count. If you have something worth posting, post it, otherwise it's better to sling another log on the fire and hunker down.
