Hi folks
The French pool contractors arrived to put the new pool in,The digger we hired via the pool contractors for the day from a local company turned up dug the hole and stockpile earth then left, despite being hired for the day. So we will only be paying for half a days hire,The cheeeky so and so, tried it on and wanted more money. We did not play ball and our French pool contractors where not impressed with them either. They will not be getting any further trade from us or the French pool company thats for sure.

Did you offer them lunch? We've always offered lunch to workers here and they really appreciate it. Did they not finish what you hired them for?

I don't quite understand why you're objecting. If they were contracted to dig a hole, they presumably gave you an estimate which you accepted. The fact that they subsequently did it in less time than they originally planned is no reason not to pay the bill.

If this is the issue, and I may have misunderstood, I think you may well find yourself in difficulties from a legal point of view.

I think you are quoted for the job but to be fair when we had our insert put in it took less time and tge guy said to me no don't pay me at the moment because I will send a new facture as I did not take the time expected. Not sure that is the norm though. In the UK they would dilly dally to make sure it covered the time allotted !!

I think if you hired the digger for the day its yours for the day. If you hired someone to do a days work and they went home at lunch time you wouldn't pay them for the afternoon.
