bIG PROBLEM WITH AOL,and internet explorer .

AOLhas been my home page for years' with no explanation i cannot get it ,and internet explorer is blocking me on most sites ,anyone have the same probs or know whats going on !!!   if i dont answer for a few days dont be suprised   

Hi Red - I used to swear by Internet Explorer until a year ago (just before we moved to France). A number of things went wrong. When my computer was automatically installing Microsoft updates I then had difficulty accessing the internet using Explorer. Co-incidentally, my hotmail e-mail account was corrupted and I also understand that something very strange was happening from my E-bay account. I sound vague because as soon as my sister in law told me about the problems she had e-mailing me and someone else re E-Bay I have never been back to either my hotmail or E-bay accounts. Fortunately I had just about emptied my Paypal account and I didn't owe anything........

We moved to France, I set up gmail and started using Mozilla Firefox instead of Explorer......so far so good.................in other words, try Firefox instead of Explorer and see how you get on would be my (limited) advice.

Internet Explorer is not that safe, I've been told, so installing another browser is a good idea.

Also, Red, what version of Windows are you using? If you use Windows XP, it's time to switch to a later version, for example Windows 7, as Microsoft does no longer support XP and does not give updates to keep the system safe, so it more sensitive to hackers, virusses, etc. Hope all this makes sense, as I am not an expert on the subject.

Thanks for the info ,ime on the old windows 7 ,and from what ive heard from people on windows 8 they hate it 'i keep getting messages from internet explorer saying my browser is obsolete and i need to dowload an updated version of the internet explorer but cannot say ime happy with that ,i am getting aol back now but slow but with dial up you expect this !!!i will see how things go in the next few weeks and take it from there and yes ime not good with tecnical problems [or spelling as you old forum members will remember!!]will keep you informed .
