Bats in the b

No, not the belfry but my bedroom. As I type(so slowly) two bats are having a whale of a time mopping up any flying morsels. They are completely ignoring me even when I stood up and walked, flying close enough to feel the wind from them. To hear the wing flutter as they do a 180 from the wall is amazing. 10 mins on they are still going strong and ignoring the open windows, they have done every room upstairs and show no signs of leaving. The missus has just been divebombed coming up the stairs, her sqeal pitch almost matched theirs. An amazing show.

I sympathise with your wife - I loath bats   

I love bats, I used to feel so sad whenever I found bits of bat that the cat had caught and half-eaten.

I remember one occasion when a pianist and cellist were doing a concert in the hall at Villefavard, and a bat came in and spent the whole concert flitting around the performers. It was so atmospheric, and as the hall is a converted barn, the bat probably came from a family of bats that had lived there for years before the conversion. All credit to the performers for not being fazed, though there was one member of the audience who felt compelled to make an early exit .....
