Lightfingered Posties
Morning all. Just recently I received a parcel from home, when I phoned to say thankyou for the items I was told several items were missing, all low value....cosmetics and a small thankyou bar of chocolate had been taken. My motorcycle mag and a thankyou card remained. On checking the jiffy bag it was apparent that it had been opened and resealed. The Post Office says it will investigate....baited breath etc....
I now need to send a camera lens to the Uk, so my question is has anyone used a courier/delivery company other than posting to send such an item. It is small, about700gm value app 200 euros. I know I can send recorded delivery etc but I am annoyed by petty thievery and would .so investigate other avenues of delivery.
My personal opinion, and that is all it is, is that as the destination was abroad the package was opened at home with a view that as both English and French postal services were to be used, even if the contents were contested nothing would/could be done
Am loving all this sunshine.

I tend to agree with you here.
I've had items go missing when sent from the UK, but never when sent from within France.

I sent a faulty control unit for my Worcester-Bosch boiler back to the supplier in England via La Poste / Royal Mail. It failed to arrive and this was a non working component but I was due a refund of £70.00. If sending items of value make sure they are insured and tracked by whatever carrier you use. Expensive lesson for me as the supplier sent it by Royal Mail for £3.50 and it arrived OK. Disappeared on the return journey.
