Help - French Gun Laws & Registration
Hi all, wife and I are moving to Creuse in Jan / Feb and as a historical re enactor in the UK I hold a shotgun licence for a working black powder musket which I want to bring with me when I move.
While I expect to take it back and forth across the channel, (with a firearms passport) I've no need or intent to use it in France.
The problem is that I clearly need to register its existence, and obtain permission to keep it, prior to its arrival - but have no idea who to approach.
Can anyone help?!
Under the French firearms code I believe it is class D - there is no black powder or ammunition obtainable for it other than through my regiment in the UK.
Thanks in anticipation of a little guidance,
Wormwood

Re: Help - French Gun Laws & Registration
I have several black powder arms, none of which require any sort of license here in France although registering at the local Gendarmerie is advised. Ammunition (powder charges, balls, wads and Percussion Caps, etc.) are readily available. I purchase mine by mail order although my local armourer also is a stockist as are some Brico's.

Cheers LD thats' very useful to know - I'll advise the local Gendarmerie prior to bringing it over. I assume gun cabinets etc are still required.
Thanks again
