Make the most of it, Escapee. I think I'm right in saying that this year will be the last. We all live in a tropical country, you see, where the temperatures never fall below 10 deg C, the sun always shines, it never snows and we go swimming and walk about with our T-shirts off all year round.

Hi Amber. Yes, it was up to 22 deg C on Sunday which, considering we're almost at the end of November, is quite incredible. I've got Rhodos flowering and even a couple of flowers on an Azalea. To be honest, it's not good; we need a good spell of really cold weather (apart from the micro-climate round your house and land, of course, Amber) to kill off the bugs and re-establish the true four seasons.

I really don't mind the really cold weather Tocyvi, as you say it kills the bugs; just not snow for more than 24 hours.

There's an interesting discussion about the Winter Fuel Payment at:
http://britishexpats.com/forum/portugal-89/end-winter-fuel-allowance-849073/ . It has some interesting links to various article.
This is a Portuguese expats forum where the WFP might be a considered a bit of a luxury but when you look at how the UK government is proposing to define the average temperature in France so that it can be compared with the average temperature in Cornwall, and when you see how the government have redefined "winter" I think you may well get a bit overheated yourself. There's also a suggestion that the government's proposal may even be illegal under EU law.
