Saltpeter/sodium nitrate

Next learning curve is making bacon. Does anybody know where I might get hold of Saltpeter? Thanks in anticipation of homemade bacon butties. Stinky.

Amazon U.K. have curing mixes. Just out of interest where are you getting the meat from, are you just using streaky pork?

Hi Amber, I have seen the curing mixes from UK, but just thought I have a bash from scratch, making my own mix. As it will be a suck it and see exercise, I am just going to start with a large lump of pork belly. If it works I shall hunt down some better quality meats. Just built a smoker (courtesy of Youtube!) and will have a bash at that as well. Hopefully decent bacon butties soon! Stinky.
