So, we fancied kicking off our Christmas early with oysters and some bubbly and have both been SO ill. It's the third time we have had oysters and so opted for the best grade that Super U had and settled down with the bubbly. I was terribly ill 4 hours later and took about 48hrs to recover. 24hrs after we had eaten them, my husband was violently ill and is still not right some 72hrs after.

For me, I don't think the chardonnay based bubbly helped either and I am now convinced that I am one of those people who should avoid chardonnay........

Fortunately, we decided to kick off our celebrations early and so should just be right in time for Christmas!

I didn't know there are people who should avoid Chardonnay, although I don't like sparkling wine/champagne anyway. I would have thought it more likely you had a couple (or more) of bad oysters. My husband has an allergy to Salmon that takes effect within a few hours of him eating it, giving him terrible stomach cramps.

Hope you are both well again by Friday.
