Chateauneuf LA foret
Hi all, we're considering moving to France and are looking at a property in CLF. Can anyone tell us what the area is like to live in? Friendly? Good community spirit? Are there any British expats local?
Also, we've only ever been in Summer.... What's the weather like throughout the year?
Any information anyone can give us about this area would be much appreciated.

Re: Chateauneuf LA foret
As here are no replies I assume there's nobody near the area of CLF!
Generally speaking we (in the Creuse) find locals to be friendly and helpful as long as you are friendly!
Also generally speaking there are a lot of Brits living around here, but whilst they are helpful, they aren't so friendly!!
Winter weather in our area is cold and snowy usually but in the last few years it's been chilly and rainy.
That said, if you're high up you can look forward to much more snow.
There's so many restaurants run by Brits it's ridiculous! As well as travelling fish & chip and curry vans.

Re: Chateauneuf LA foret
Hello there.
I live in La Croisille Sur Briance - around 15km from Chateauneuf and have been here for over 15 years. It's generally a quiet area although if you scratch the surface there is plenty to do.
There seem to be less expats around here than other areas of the Limousin but there are still plenty of Brits around - generally people move here for a quiet life so it might take a bit of time to meet people but there is generally a good relationship between the French community and the expat one - obviously the more French you can speak the better but a friendly attitude and a few key words go a long way...
There are a couple of British owned restaurants in the area open all year round and the Cheyenne café in Chateauneuf (campsite) is open from April to October with occasional band nights and decent if not spectacular food.
The weather last year was fantastic - sun from May until October and even the odd day in November and December touching the 20 degree mark but that's not typical. Since January we have had a lot of rain but temperatures have been above freezing during the day and only slightly below at night.
Feel free to ask anything more specific and I'll try to help.

Thanks for that Kevin. Although we were looking at buying a property near CLF, that is not now the case. We have found a property a little further south near Treignac. Hopefully, it will be as chilled and as friendly there as in CLF.
