Refund on duff wine from Lidl

We recently bought some wine at Lidl, a German Silvaner, but had to return it due to secondary fermentation (it seems slightly fizzy when tasted). The first time we did it the assistant in the Bellac shop was helpful and the affected bottles exchanged. Unfortunately these were no better so we returned all nine bottles we had and to our amazement a full refund, in cash, was given. Now that's a first for France. A refund, not an exchange or a credit note.

Don't like sparkling wine then Alpen?

We reckon than as it was a foreign wine they weren't surprised, if you'd had the cheek to take a French wine back it may have been different?

Sparkling wine is fine. I gather a Camel estuary vineyard in Cornwall is in the top three finalists for an international sparkling wine award. But this German Sylvaner won't be in the running. At least we managed a refund for the first time ever. Maybe because it's a German business.

I thought it was a sparkling wine!,still i drank the bottle and did not fall off me chair so it can not have been all that bad. Mind you the second bottle was a different story as i think our old stone stairs are getting steeper.
