Apple Picking work Limousin 2013

I have just been and signed up for my annual boot camp/ intensive French lesson!

Unlike last year, which was something of a disaster for the orchards, all is going well so far and they are on target for a good harvest.
Recruitment is now underway for the hundreds of pomme pickers needed.
Provisional start date is 25th September for about 3 weeks

Boot camp indeed! Very hard work; my OH did it one year and he was exhausted every night even though he's always been used to doing physical work.

I really enjoy it, honestly I do, but I work for a small orchard down the road and I am not sure it is quite as tough as some of the larger ones. I rarely make my bonuses, 3 crates a day is my lot. Graft like mad in the morning, fill two then take it easier in the afternoon  

Always lose a pound or two and earn a few bob, win win.

I have been contacted by someone who is interested in this work , from the UK , so EU citizen, but does not live here full time so no social security number. Does anyone know how this works for them... ? I know where I work she will not take anyone on without one presumably not by law but by choice ?

I would think if they went through the pole-emploi they wouldn't have a problem. After all a lot of Portuguese and North Africans get taken on so a UK resident shouldn't be a problem.

My OH had to do 5 crates a day to meet his targets; if he didn't he was out!
