got about 39c near record breaking temps

Well I went to the pea aisle .. where were you all.  

Needed shopping yesterday afternoon and I figured that with these temperatures all the locals would be sheltering indoors. I was right, supermarkets deserted, no queues at the checkouts and lovely and cool inside.. bliss.

Orange alert again tonight for Haute Vienne and Creuse, we are planning to go to the big night market across at Montbron, not sure it is such a good idea now !

The OH is "acting!" in the Fresque at Bridiers again tonight, that should be fun in a storm. It seems that every year at least one of the three nights is cancelled because of rain, a couple of years ago it was two out of the three. It does strike me that the first week of August is possibly not the best time to hold this show. Anyhoo, it's my birfday today, so I have carte-blanche as to what I want to do, it won't be watching the OH and the assembled mob pretending to be thesps whilst some BOF drones on via the obligatory microphone.

"EIGHT departments in the south west are on alert for ‘violent storms’ set to strike tonight. Residents of the Charente, Dordogne, Landes, Gironde et Lot-et-Garonne, Creuse, Vienne and Haute-Vienne should be vigilant as the storms hit later today. Strong gusts of winds up to 100kph, hail and heavy rain (up to 30mm in an hour) are expected. The riskiest period is 19.00 until Saturday morning at 04.00. The storms are set to begin in the Golfe de Gascogne tonight and spread across Aquitaine, the Limousin and the east of Poitou-Charentes. Wider areas will be affected but not to the same intensity as the departments on alert"

C'est en fin de journée, aux alentours de 19h00, que les orages devraient faire leur apparition en Limousin. Sauf en Corrèze, seul département de la région qui devrait être moins touché. Ce bulletin de vigilance orange est valable jusqu'à demain 4h00.

Cette journée  va être à nouveau très chaude avec des températures qui vont grimper jusque vers 30 à 35°C. Cette masse d'air très chaude va se déstabiliser en fin d'après-midi, avec des orages.
Cette vague orageuse devrait être de courte durée mais pourrait être localement accompagnée de phénomènes violents (rafales de vent de 80 à 100 km/h, grêle, fortes pluies jusqu'à 30 mm en 1 heure).

Let's hope so - just had a walk round the garden; the shrubs are really starting to suffer. I've all but given up with the veg garden.

I thought I was the only one who had despaired of any decent veg harvest this year, although the tomatoes and beetroot are still doing well, all the rest are pretty pathetic.

We had a storm here in Correze last night, but it didn't last long and certainly not as violent as the forecasts for elsewhere. Hope everyone has survived unscathed.
