Ragwort on the increase
Has anyone noticed this toxic weed has increased ? we have never had it before and now its in our fields
luckily not much and we are able to pull it out ,
but today we noticed on the verges of the N145 lots of it, once it seeds there is no going back and I read that it can still seed when pulled out..
According to the tinterweb it needs to be burnt.
this weed is toxic to horses and cows the toxin builds up in the animal as they can't get rid of it and can lead to the death of the animal..
not a nice plant...

We hadn't noticed, but you're correct in that it is a very toxic plant which is lethal if it gets into hay as horses leave it alone when fresh but don't detect it when dried.
How do you burn it if -as we understand - there's a ban on bonfires?

I have also noticed significant outcrops of Japanese Knotweed not too far from us. There doesn't appear to be any effort being made to control it other than simply cutting it back which will make absolutely no difference to the spread whatsoever.

Hi RB
To be honest, I don't know, but it's inconceivable that they don't know. I mean it's not as if you can't see it; it's 2 metres tall.

Perhaps his eyesight is bad [or he would rather ignore it and not have to deal with the red tape ]
