French nationality
Linked to my question in Parlez-vous français, I would be interested to hear if anyone has applied for French nationality? I intend to do so as we have lived here 5 years in June. Being younger than 60, part of my application will be to successfully achieve at least level B1 in the language test.
One of my reasons for wanting to take French nationality is that, should I wish to continue as a conseillère municipale, (next elections in 2020), I should be able to demonstrate that, as well as being a French habitant, I am also a citizen of a country in the EU. By March 2019, it is likely that Britain will have left the EU......
I should add that it is my intention to have dual nationality......
Thanks!

Re: French nationality
Hi Blakevine! I'm also interested in going for dual French / UK nationality and have drawn up a check-list of requirements. But, being France, the requirements are a little vague sometimes, so if anyone has been through it (in the Limousin especially), I would love to be able to pick your brains! I have heard that it can take a year to come through, so the clock is ticking....

OK, so, having visited our Préfecture, I now know that it is the Préfecture du Haute-Vienne that deals with applications for French nationality. I also now have a list of centres who operate the TCF for French nationality.
Anybody want to share their experiences?

Glad for you, sounds like you are in luck. In some departments there is a waiting list for an appointment until 2020!

Thanks Myriam. I am now broadening my knowledge of French history and politics ready for my interview! Other stuff comes more naturally to me....we will see what happens!

Re: French nationality
So, time flies. My interview was in September 2019 and I was in the Journal Officiel dated 9 mars 2020 so I am now French! Had the official letter too, despite reduced postal deliveries. Vive la république, vive la France!
Tim French too of course!

Well done matey! We had our interviews on 16 Dec last and the visit from the Gendarmarie on Christmas Eve, so lets hope the wait, one way or another, will not be too long.
Re: French nationality
Well done you two! I have to say that they tried to push through our dossiers quickly because they knew I wanted to me représenter again....unfortunately, the decision arrived a matter of days too late....still, mustn’t grumble!
The official letter says that the Prefecture will now write to us within 6 months and there will be various enclosures including a livre de famille. Goodness knows when the cérémonie will be but I am looking forward to singing the Marseillaise! Good luck and let us know what happens.

We also hoped to 'fast track' for the same reason, a councillor in the house, but it was always veering on the impossible.
