Put your 'phone number in the box, it will tell you what is available where you are and at what cost. http://www.dslvalley.com/

Broadband/phone Empty Re: Broadband/phone

My contract with UK Telecom runs out in March and I am looking to change. The current charges are €29.50 for broadband including a VPN access to UK TV (upto 2mbps but generally less), €16.90 for line rental, €1.00 for caller name display and €11.50 unlimited landline calls to France, UK and some other countries. In addition I have an internet phone (different number) with calls to 101 destinations at no additional charge. The service is good but at €58.90 it seems expensive. Satellite broadband looks an interesting option as greater speeds are available. I have looked at the website suggested by Le-Dolly but it didn't make much sense. I'll keep watching this thread to see if any better alternatives are recommended.

You want a recommendation, here goes. I am with SFR which costs me 21€90 a month. That includes a 20meg connection (actually a squeeze under 18 meg), unlimited landline calls to France, UK and some 100 odd countries, free caller name display, line rental included & free music downloads.
The whole reason for looking through the site that I posted was that it will show you what is available, and by whom, at your location.

Thanks for the up-date Le-Dolly. Had another go at the website but cannot find the same deal as you have with SFR. My download speed is still upto 2Mbps only. If I want faster it will have to be satelite. Your package, even with a lower speed, would be fine for us Will try and access it somehow.

Alpen... the speed you will achieve depend on three things... the distance from your exchange, the grade of the line between you and the exchange combining to give an attenuation figure and finally what stage of asdl your exchange is at.

If you are too far from the exchange you will never get a fast speed. I am 3.5km away and the theoretical speed is around 6-7meg and I get 5- 6 meg.

If you have a telephone number then try the link below (similar to dslvalley) and test your eligibilite. It will show your line length, attenuation, theoretical max speed and various offers available for your line.
