WhatsApp Application for Blackberry phone

In South Africa we used a data based application called "whatapp" to replace costly sms. Is this available in France and if so does anyone know where we can go to get connected? I also have a Blackberry phone and used the "BIS" application for unlimited monthly data on a prepaid basis for approx 5 euros per month - is this available here?
