Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of households in a village joining together to bulk buy heating oil? I have heard that quite substantial savings can be negotiated.

I have purchased heating oil via www.fioulmarket.fr and it offers a facility for customers in the same postcode area to form buying group. This is part of Total Oil and is unusual for a French business to operate a web based purchasing facility. Price was very good as well.
