After jumping through hoops toing and froing to get our latest English car registered in France, its finally done,
we had to pay 60 euros for an attestation from the merc garage in Montlucon as the car is 24 years old , this was required by Mercedes in Paris'
that done we sent off the paperwork and a cheque for 150 euros for the cert of conformity. Cetificate received at last we returned [for the second time]to the prefecture in Gueret, fingers crossed . We saw a paper whilst seated at the desk and while the young man was on the computer we had a look, it was the charges for the carte gris .From this we gleaned another 186 euros to pay, so check in had to the payment desk.. we handed over the check she checked the paper work then over to the young man for a discussion, well the thoughts going through our minds, something was wrong, she came back took the cheque printed it and returned it for my signature, I looked carefully thinking the amount may have changed and YES it had 2 euros 50 cents We couldn't believe our eyes . We were assured this was correct.... And we all live happily ever after.
